Not only does the van hold everything I need for a day of racing, it also doubles as a place to sleep. I would of had to wake up at 3:30 AM to make it down the day of, and I did not want to drop money on a motel for a few hours. With layers of blankets, winter gear, and the liquid courage of a handful of beers, I slept like a baby through the night.

This event had a handful of Detroit chapter members make the trip down. Made a lot of new friends. About 30 entrants total, but o nly three vehicles and four entrants in the stock front class this weekend.
Probably my favorite entrant(s) were twin ‘07 and ‘10 retired Crown Vic Interceptors with matching ‘05 Mustang GT wheels on all seasons. Each had an aftermarket exhaust. It was their first time RallyCrossing, but they had so much fun. It was just as fun watching them barrel through the course.
Took 2nd in class behind a talented driver behind a Focus. I couldn’t get a good rhythm going all day, but still managed to hold my own. I blame the fact I had to wear #66 instead of by standard #69 ;)
Every event I attend makes me love RallyCross even more. There is a two night event about 2 hours from me in a few weeks. Depending on work schedule, I’ll try to make it. Otherwise this might be the last one for the season. I can’t wait for next season already!

Wish there were events closer to me. Would love to get into rallycross.

I really should of rallycrossed my P71 before I sold it. How far from Detroit was this place?

This one was 3 hours away from where I live. There was only one this summer that was less than an hour from me, but that may change next season after the very good reception it got.

4.5 hours. It’s south of Columbus. I plan on attending more Detroit region events next season as well.

I know they do one in Milford 20 minutes from me but it’s early in the season.
BTW love the rally van.

Much appreciated. My goal is to attend and compete in all RallyCross events within 3 hours of me.

Hmmmmm. Paducah is only 4 hours from me. Though I would have to do some serious prep work to the Fiero. Tennessee/Alabama events are 6 hours away. I’d have to see the 2020 schedule, maybe might plan something next year.

How far are you from St. Louis area? There’s an event the 17th in Madison, Il (Just over the river from St. Louis).

About 5 hours. I’ve done it in 3...... I’m in Louisville, Kentucky. I’d be a spectator, m y Fiero is nowhere near ready for the rode, let alone a rally event ;)

Electrical work..... I honestly enjoy it . Found a bad coolant temp sensor for the ecm, should take care of the rich condition . Still throwing map sensor faults at me, might pick one up as well, but pretty sure I have either a misfire or more likely a failing lower intake gasket grief- ing me . Engine needs a re-condition. It leaks. Lots.

Yes. Yes you should have.

I love that you Rallycross this thing. Someone needs to carry on the Oppo torch of rallycrossing vehicles that were never intended for anything like it. If all goes according to plan, I'll be codriving lapsed Opponaut Birddog's '78 Chevy C-10 next season.

Do you remember what town this was near? South of Columbus might make it a reasonable distance for me.

I don’t plan on stopping! As long as it passes height/width restrictions, I’ll keep sending it

Greenfield. Straight west of Chillicothe.

Outstanding!

I know it well; my grandparents used to live about 10 miles outside of Greenfield.
As an aside if you go back and are looking for a quick burger there’s a place in Chillicothe called Sun Burger that’s pretty good.

Good to know. There’s also a walk-up food joint just outside of Greenfield I always pass when down there. I always wanted to stop, but never have cash on me.

Come help me fix the Capri and we can rallyX it. That’s it’s whole purpose once it’s running again.
They run RallyX year round in Metro Detroit. Next race is their overnight saturday and sunday double races next weekend in Wauseon Ohio. Final race of 2019 is in South Lyon in December.

Didn’t know they race year round. Cool.
I thought you were rebuilding jet skies now?
I think I could do that. Oppo meet at MontegoMans house!

Haha, I’m always working on jet skis...because they’re jet skis. T he Capri is just sitting in the garage sad and neglected.
2 full engine swaps this year on jet skis. Finalizing the fuel system on one of them, rode the other one 4 times or so this year. Might take one on from a guy at work to do some light work on like rebuild the carbs ad do the reed valves (he’s going to pay me though) over the winter.
I also have to get the snowblower up and running. And maybe a push mower due to new sod.
Basically everything is broken and I need to work on anything with an engine that isn’t a daily driver.

That reminds me why I have a canoe and no jet ski.
You sound like me. Bought the swampland next to me and spent all summer fighting the poison ivy and clearing out dead wood. Haven't worked on the 06 Mustang in over a year now and didn't do hardly any fun car stuff this year. Went to air up the stangs tire Monday night and my air compressor blew up. Heavy sigh

Yep. I was trying to work my way across the garage this year. If I finish the 2nd jet ski I’ve gotten 2 projects done and then it’s C apri time.

This year seemed like one thing done then 2 popped up. Now I’ve got a ceramic floor to do and leaves. Let me know when it warms up We’ll trade wrenching hours or drink beer and look at our broken crap.
:)

The “one thing done then 2 popped up” is definitely the theme of the year. Nothing like finishing a full engine swap to finally take your jet skis out for the other engine to go...
Haha, sounds good for either option.
